Washington (Arabsiyonews):- A senior US adviser says a fact-finding mission from the US Congress is convinced of the importance of Somaliland to US interests in the Horn of Africa.
A US congressional delegation arrived in Somaliland earlier this month, met with Somaliland officials, traveled to cities including Berbera, and inspected Berbera Airport and Port.
The delegation returned to Washington, where Piero Tozzi, a senior adviser to Congressman Chris Smith in the US House of Representatives, said the delegation was satisfied with what they saw as important in Somaliland.
“The delegation is now back in Washington DC convinced of the value of Somaliland to the United States in the fight against China’s expansion and influence in the region,” said Adviser Piero Tozzi.
