Cerigaabo(WN) Problems have arisen in livestock distribution for Erigavo low income families following the Candlelight organization which maintains this project, was alleged that distribution was not being implemented properly. The current livestock distribution program is funded by the UN Food and Agricultural Organization FOA to respond the humanitarian emergencies and the crisis faced by the needy people of the region due to the repeated droughts erupted in the eastern Somaliland region of Sanaag. Candlelight NGO has however been included in this project as a subcontractor to FOA however it has been confirmed that livestock is not reaching actual beneficiaries although distribution has been made, but the reports we receive from the project sight in the Erigavo outskirts show that in many cases the livestock were going to wrong persons and slight number of the real beneficiaries received livestock Members who spoke on behalf the low income groups of the district told Somali news TV that the livestock allocated for the project never reached to the intended right beneficiaries and the poor people were not properly targeted as candlelight NGO selected the richer part of the community. Last but not least, the poor people of Sanaag region are faced with depression, degradation, deprivation and apart from these; they are vulnerable to ill-treatment by the candlelight organization. These people are rather powerless to pressure the decisions that are affecting their lives therefore we, the Somaliland independent media sectors must ensure to the best of our ability that humanitarian funds are not being wasted and that the power of aid business organizations like the Candlelight is not being manipulated unfairly to benefit a select few.
